S tep 1 . P osition main po w er s w itch to “ O FF ”
S tep 2. Disconnect ( unp l ug ) w ater heater f rom 1 2 0
vo l t po w er source .
S tep 3 . Turn o ff w ater supp l y and drain w ater heater .
S tep 4. Locate ( see photo be l o w) and remove anode rods f rom heater ( 1 - 1/16 hex socket ) .
S tep 5 . V isua ll y inspect anode rod . A node rod shou l d sho w signs o f dep l etion, this is norma l. I f
the dep l etion is ½ o f the origina l diameter ( approximate l y ¾" diameter ) , rep l acement is
recommended . I f any o f the stee l core o f the anode is exposed, rep l acement is
recommended .
S tep 6 . Upon comp l etion o f inspection or subsequent rep l acement, app l y thread sea l ing tape or other
thread compound to threads o f anode and reinsta ll into heater . R estore w ater supp l y
and check f or and repair any l eaks f ound .
S tep 7 . R estore 1 2 0 vo l ts to w ater heater and veri f y proper heater operation f o ll o w ing the
instructions on the l ighting instruction l abe l or the l ighting instruction l ocated in the
insta ll ation and operating instruction manua l.
