The devices with control function (IndraLogic or MLP devices) feature an inter‐
nal short-time UPS. This short-time UPS consists of a maintenance-free ca‐
pacitor block.
Fig.6-6:
Short-time UPS
The short-time UPS supplies the device for a certain time with voltage, when
the 24 V voltage supply fails. During this time the application can backup up to
256 KByte retain data on the Compact Flash card.
UPS (external)
An external 24 V UPS can be connected to X1S pin 3. If an external UPS is
connected, the available time after "Power off" is extended to two seconds. This
time allows the backup of up to 2 MByte retain data on the Compact Flash card.

Setting the Display Resolution
VEP Pentium devices
The display resolution can be set via the BIOS. The rotary switches on the side
of the PC box are currently without function.
VEP ATOM devices
The display resolution is set in the BIOS of the ATOM devices.

Reset Button
The Reset button on the side of the PC box resets the device. The device re‐
starts.

External Fan Connection on the Pentium M Devices
The external fan connection is only available for Pentium M devices.
The IndraControl VEP **.4 devices can be cooled passively in the specified
range (see
chapter 4.6 "Ambient Conditions" on page 29
). This means the
devices can be operated without a fan. An external fan can be connected if the
surrounding air temperature is higher.
The fan is connected to the "XFAN" connector. The connector "FAN" is situated
at the side of the PC box. The fan is switched on if the internal temperature is
60 °C and the fan is switched off if the temperature is 50 °C. The connection is
designed for a 12 V fan.
