WARNING: if you are not familiar with this kind of machine, take advice from an experienced per-

son.

In any case you should have read and understood the safety and operational instruction before

attempting to operate this product.

Pivoting the table (Fig. 11)

- To bring the table (3) to the inclined position release the table locking (h) and adjust the desired

table angle. Re-tighten the table locking.

Adjusting table height (Fig. 12)

- Loosen the table support lock handle

- Adjust the table (3) to the desired height.

- Re-tighten the table locking

Note: it is better to lock the table to the column in a position so that the tip of the drill bit is just

slightly above the top of the workpiece.

The angular play of the spindle (Fig. 10)

With the spindle in a low position, take it in your hand and try to make it revolving about its axis. If

there is too much play, proceed as follows:

- Loosen lock nut (L)

- Turn the screw (I) clockwise to eliminate the play but without obstructing the upward and down-

ward motion of the spindle (a little bit of play is normal)

- Tighten the lock nut.

Installing and removing drill bits

- Fold the drill chuck protection upwards.

- Insert drill bit into chuck far enough to obtain maximum gripping of chuck jaws, do not insert too

far to avoid the jaws touching the flutes-spiral groves of the drill bit.

- Firmly hold the holding ring and turn the clamping ring clockwise to tighten the drill bit.

- Fold the drill chuck protection back down again.

- Make sure the drill bit is centered in the chuck before tightening the chuck and tightened the drill

chuck sufficiently to avoid slipping during drilling.

- For removing the drill bit, firmly hold the holding ring and turn the clamping ring anticlockwise to

loosen the drill bit.

Choosing speed and tensioning belt (Fig. 13 and 16)

Note! Pull power plug!

- You can set different spindle speeds on your pillar drilling machine:

- with the switch "off", open pulley cover.

Loosen the drive belt on the right side of the machine head by unfastening the wing screws (12)

on both sides. Pull the right side of the motor in the direction of the spindle to loosen the v-belt.

Tighten the wing screws again.

- Attach the v-belt to the corresponding belt pulleys.

- Loosen the wing screws and push the right side of the motor backwards to clamp the v-belt again.

- Tighten belt tension lock knob. Belt should deflect approximately 13 mm —1/2" -by thumb pres-

sure at mid-point of belt between pulleys.

- Close pulley cover .

If belt slips while drilling adjust belt tension.

* Please refer to fig. 16 To find the right belt position for your desired speed.

Tip: Safety switch

If you want to adjust speed you have to open the pulley cover. The device switches off immediately to avoid the risk of Injuries.

Removing the chuck

Open jaws of chuck as wide as they go by turning chuck sleeve anticlockwise (when viewed from above).

Carefully tap chuck with mallet in one hand while holding chuck in other hand to prevent dropping it when released from spindle nose.

Depth stop (Fig. 14)

The depth stop enables the drilling of holes in the workpiece until a defined depth. You have two options for that.

Drilling to a specific depth

- Mark the drilling depth (H) on one side of the workpiece.

- WITH THE SWITCH „OFF", bring the drill bit down until the tip or lips are even to the mark.
