Under the following unusual rid-
ing conditions, BMW Motorrad
Traction Control may be deacti-
vated automatically.

Unusual riding conditions:

Driving on the rear wheel
(wheely) for a longer period.
Rear wheel spinning in place
with front brake engaged (burn
out).
Heating up on an auxiliary
stand at idle speed or with gear
engaged.

If the front wheel loses con-
tact with the ground under ex-
treme acceleration, the ASC or
DTC function reduces the engine
torque in the

RAIN

and

ROAD

rid-

ing modes until the front wheel
makes contact with the ground
again.
Wheelie support is deactivated in
the

DYNAMIC PRO

riding mode.

BMW Motorrad recommends
that you respond to this condi-
tion by twisting back the throttle
grip somewhat to return to stable
dynamic operating conditions as
quickly as possible.

On a slippery surface, the throttle
grip should never be suddenly
twisted back completely unless
the clutch is disengaged at the
same time. The engine braking
torque can cause the rear wheel
to slip, resulting in an unstable
driving state. This case cannot
be controlled by BMW Motorrad
DTC.

Electronic suspension
adjustment (ESA)

with Dynamic ESA

OE

Adjustment options

Using the Dynamic ESA elec-
tronic suspension adjustment
system you can easily adjust your
motorcycle to the load being car-
ried and the road condition.
Using leveling sensor,
Dynamic ESA detects
movements of the running
gear and responds to them by
adjusting the damping valves.
As a result, the running gear is
adjusted to the conditions of the
ground.
Starting from the

ROAD

basic set-

ting, the damping can also be set
harder with

DYNAMIC

.

The chassis and suspension set-
ting depends on the selected
riding mode. Damping set by the
riding mode can be changed by
the rider.
The basic setting specified by
the riding mode is set after every
mode change.
