Bluetooth audio

General

▷

Playback of music files via Bluetooth from ex‐
ternal devices, for example audio devices or
mobile telephones.

▷

The volume of the sound output depends on
the device. If applicable, change the volume
settings on the device.

▷

Depending on the vehicle equipment, up to
four external devices can be connected to the
vehicle. Two of these devices can be used for
Bluetooth audio.

▷

With Bluetooth devices, the extent of func‐
tions that can be operated using iDrive may
be limited depending on the supported Blue‐
tooth version. If necessary, the missing func‐
tions can be operated directly on the device.

Operating requirements

▷

The Bluetooth device is connected with the
vehicle.
For connecting mobile devices to the vehicle,
see Owner's Handbook for the vehicle.

▷

Bluetooth audio playback has been activated.

Selecting a Bluetooth device

If the Bluetooth device is not listed in the device
list, Bluetooth audio playback may not have been
activated. Proceed as follows to activate Blue‐
tooth audio playback:

Select the required Bluetooth device.

Playback

General

The Control Display shows the available informa‐
tion about the current track.
The selected playlist is displayed in the case of
USB and Bluetooth devices. This can be the re‐
sult of a search or a previously saved playlist. If
music is being played back via a smartphone
app, the display may differ.
Tilting the Controller to the left displays further
functions. The range of available functions de‐
pends on the selected audio source.

Selecting a track

Select the desired track from the playlist.
All tracks in the playlist are played, starting from
the selected track.

Changing the track

On the radio, depending on the vehicle equip‐
ment:

  Press the left or right button.

▷

  Press the left or right button.

The previous or next track from the playlist is
played.
