Advice

General Advice / Positioning / Preparation

•  This chimenea will last for many years with the appropriate care. Due to the production process each

chimenea may vary slightly in size, weight and colour.

•

Remove all packaging before first use. Place the chimeneas on stand and ensure that it is stable.

•

Make sure to position the chimenea on even ground. It should only be placed on a non-flammable

surface and positioned at least 2 metres from any side or overhead combustible materials (e.g.

house, fence, deck, trees, etc.)

•  Place a 7cm (minimum) layer of small stones or dry washed sand in the base of the chimenea. This

will help prevent the chimenea from cracking through excessive heat. Do not use normal garden soil

or brick sand.

•

The chimenea should be cured first with only a small amount of paper, kindling and small logs. After

each burn allow the chimenea to cool down completely before relighting. Repeat this step at least 3

times.

Lighting / Dangers & Safety Advice

•  Use chimenea OUTDOORS ONLY

•  Ensure chimenea is stable prior to use.

•  The surface gets hot during use. Keep children and pets a safe distance from the chimenea when in use.

•  Do not move the chimenea when in use and always wait until it has cooled down completely before

moving.

•

Never leave a chimenea with fire unattended.

•  Hot embers may emit while in use

•

Do NOT overfill the chimenea or allow flames to emit out of the top or front.

•  Maintain 2 metre distance from all combustible materials. Do NOT use chimenea on or near decking

or other flammable surfaces. Do never block any openings.

•

Always start the fire slowly with newspaper and small kindling. Gradually increase the size of the

fuel. Wood is the best type of fuel and only a small amount is required for the chimenea to produce

enough heat.

•  For barbecues, use charcoal heaped up on the appropriate grill (supplied) placed into the bottom of

the chimenea. Place the barbecue grill between the bottom part and the top part (10030149 only).

•

Do NEVER use accelerants when lighting the fire – these may cause damage to the chimenea because

of a rapid increase in temperature, are dangerous and at times can be uncontrollable.

•  Do NOT overload the chimenea as too much fuel may cause the chimenea to crack.

•  Do NOT allow fuel to hang outside the front of the chimenea

•

Do NOT extinguish the fire with water as this will cause the chimenea to crack because of the rapid

decrease in temperature

•  Regularly change the stones / sand at the base of the chimenea.

•  Do not operate the chimenea in the rain and keep the chimenea dry when not in use

•  If your chimenea gets wet please ensure that it is completely dry before use or it may crack
