Chapter 2: The Basics

2.1 The Home Screen

From the Home screen, you can quickly access common features and view notifications of missed calls, received messages, 
battery and connection status.

Status Bar

• Displays status and notification icons as well as the clock.
•  Message, appointment, task, and connection notifications are also 

displayed on the status bar. 

Application Drawer

Select the Application Drawer to view your smart-phone’s programs and 
settings.

Select the Contacts icon to view contacts. See “Contacts” on page 10.

Shortcut Menu

Select an icon to access the function.

Select the Dialer icon to open the dialing keypad.

NOTE: Screen shots are simulated. Actual display may vary. Instructions to perform tasks highlighted in this guide may change 
depending on the software version on your phone.

The Status bar icons indicate various types of information. Select the status bar and scroll down to view notifications or view
