  6.   Helpful hints (see also number 2, operating tips)

Situation

Probable Cause

Solution

• Replace with brand new 9V battery.

• Electrical wiring and

metal/plastic pipes
may be near or
touching backsurface
of wall.

• Detects other

objects besides
studs during
scanning.

•  Finds more

targets than
there should be.

•  Constant

readings of
studs near
windows and
doors.

•  Low Battery

Indicator and
tool is not
operating.

•  No YELLOW

LEDs shown on
the panel,
during scanning.

• Check for other studs equally spaced to either

side 12,16, or 24 in. (31, 41, or 61 cm) apart or
for the same stud at several places directly
above or below the first scan area.

• Astud reading would measure approximately

1-1/2 in. (38 mm) apart from each edge;
anything larger or smaller is most likely not a
stud if not near a door or window.

• Move the tool on a different place to calibrate

again.

• Use another product with a deeper scan mode

to calibrate and scan again.

7.  Battery warnings
•  Remove exhausted batteries from the set immediately.
•  Remove the batteries from product during periods of non-use.
•  Battery leakage can cause corrosion and damage to this product.
•  Replace only with "AA" type batteries. (* Depended on size of battery)
•  Only batteries of the same or equivalent type as recommended should be used.
•  Do not mix old and new batteries.
•  Do not mix alkaline, standard (carbon-zinc) or rechargeable batteries.
•  Batteries should be inserted with the correct polarity.
•  Avoid short circuiting the terminals of the batteries.
•   Non-rechargeable batteries should not be recharged.
•  Dispose of batteries safely. Do not attempt to burn them. Use collection points where available.
•  Make sure battery compartments are secure.

• Double and triple studs

are usually found
around doors and
windows. Solid headers
are above them.

•  The calibration is not

correct.

•  The stud is deeper

beyond the scan
mode.

• Detect outer edges so you know where to begin.

•  Battery level low for

proper operation.
