
Precautions and Safeguards
When using electrical appliances, basic precautions need to be followed at all times to reduce the risk of fire, electrical
shock and injury

Ensure the power source conforms to the electrical requirements of the appliance.

Use this electrical appliance as described in this manual, any other use is not recommended by the manufacturer
and could have a detrimental effect on the durability of the appliance and/or the safety of the user.

This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental
capability has or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction
concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
•
Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not touch or play with the appliance.
•
The warnings, precautions, in this instruction manual, cannot cover all possible conditions and situations that
may occur. It must be understood by the operator that common sense and caution are factors, which cannot be
built into this product but must be supplied by the operator.
•
The appliance must not be used in potentially dangerous locations such as flammable, explosive, chemical-laden
or where petrol or flammable liquids are used or stored.
•
Never operate the appliance after the appliance malfunctions or the unit is damaged in any way.
•
Do not use any attachments or accessories other than those supplied with the appliance.
•
This product is not for commercial use.
•
Keep away from water and moist environments.
•
This product is not a toy. Keep away from children.
•
Keep out of direct sunlight.
•
Do not disassemble, adapt or alter the product. There are no serviceable internal parts.
•
Clean with a dry cloth, do not use liquids or detergents.
•
Remove jewellery when using this product.
•
Never touch the red and black clips together, this will cause a short circuit and may damage the appliance.
•
This product is a trickle charger, not a float charger, do not keep it permanently connected.
Battery Safety
Lead-acid batteries can be very dangerous. Batteries can generate flammable gases during the normal charging
operation. Carefully read the warnings below.
•
Read the warnings on the battery and the vehicle for model-specific instructions.
•
This charger is intended to be used on lead-acid batteries, any other type of batteries may cause damage to the
charger or battery. If unsure of the battery type contact the supplier of the battery for confirmation.
•
Never allow the positive (+) and negative (-) terminals on the battery to connect together.
•
Ensure adequate ventilation when charging to ensure that gases can escape.
•
Do not charge the battery in freezing conditions.
•
Wear eye protection and protective gloves when working with lead-acid batteries.
•
Ensure the battery is in good condition and clean before charging. This can be checked using the battery
manufacturer’s instructions.
•
If the battery will not hold a charge have it checked by a garage, the battery may need replacing.
•
If the battery swells, smokes or expels any substances, disconnect the power to the charger if safe to do so and
leave the area immediately.
•
Ensure that the car is switched off, the key out of the ignition and the engine is cool.
•
Most cars are ‘negative grounded’ which means
that the chassis of the car is grounded to the negative terminal
of the battery. Refer to your manufacturer’s instructions to check. These charging instructions are for a negative
grounded battery.
