CHAPTER 5: ADVANCED OPERATIONS

5.  Advanced Operations

5.1  User Maintenance

The Octet switching system can be configured to support up to 128 users. Each user is
identified by a unique name and password and can be assigned full, view only or no rights
to servers attached to the Octet switch. These actions, as well as deleting and editing users
once they are configured, are performed through the Admin menu and require that the user
be logged in under the Admin user. You also can perform user maintenance through
Octoware.

NOTE:

By default all user stations automatically enable login using

admin

 as the username. The system

administrator can use the Force Login option to require all users to log in with specific usernames.

To add a user:

1.

Press

Ctrl+Ctrl

to launch the Octet OSD.

2.

Click the

Admin

 tab.

3.

Click the down arrow navigation button to display the User Admin screen. A list of
users displays. See the table in section 4.2 for a list of the Octet OSD
navigation buttons.
