FEATURES

• Media and data rate conversion

in one convenient device.

• Automatically adapts to speed:

10, 100, or 1000 Mbps.

• No need to use crossover cable —

auto MDI-II/MDI-X detects and adapts
to pinning.

• Run fiber cable distances up to

43.4 miles (69.8 km)!

• Multimode and single-mode duplex

and single-mode single-strand models
available.

Link 10-/100-/1000-Mbps PCs up to 10 kilometers away from a managed

10/100/1000 Ethernet switch via duplex, single-mode fiber optic cable.

OVERVIEW

Media converters help you make the most of your Ethernet,

Fast Ethernet, or Gigabit Ethernet network. The converters
support long distances between Ethernet devices over fiber
optic cable. They also work as data rate converters.

10-/100-/1000-Mbps Autosensing Gigabit Miniature Media

Converters connect Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, or Gigabit Ethernet
copper cable to fiber optic cable.

On the twisted-pair side, the converters autosense and

match the connected device’s speed—10, 100, or 1000 Mbps.
They also detect and adapt to the RJ-45 connector’s pinning
(crossed or uncrossed), so you won’t need crossover cable.

On the fiber side, speeds typically reach 1000 Mbps. Choose

50-/125-µm or 62.5/125-µm duplex multimode fiber cable or
9-/125-µm duplex or single-strand single-mode fiber cable.

All models include one RJ-45 connector for the twisted-pair

connection. Multimode and single-mode duplex fiber cable
models have two SC connectors, while single-mode single-
strand fiber cable models have one SC connector. Distances
range from up to 984.2 feet to 43.4 miles (300 m to 69.8 km),
depending on the converter model.

The converters work in pairs: choose one pair of duplex

converters (LGC120A for 984.2 feet [300 m], LGC121A for
6.2 miles [10 km], LGC122A for 24.8 miles [39.9 km], or
LGC124A for 43.4 miles [69.8 km]). Or, select one complement-
ary pair of single-strand converters (LGC125A and LGC126A or
LGC127A and LGC128A). Single-strand converters come in
1310-nm TX/1550-nm RX models for 6.2 or 24.8 miles (10 or
39.9 km) and 1550-nm TX/1310-nm RX models for 6.2 or
24.8 miles (10 or 39.9 km).

If you use only one converter at each end of the link,

power it through the external 100–240-VAC power supply
(included). Or, select the USB Power Adapter Cable (LHC021A)
to power the converter via your computer’s USB port.

If you use multiple converters, order the 18-Slot Power

Tray (LHC018A-AC or LHC018A-DC). The AC model features
a 100–240-VAC power supply; the DC model uses a
-48-VDC power supply.
