Bison 50

Straight Stairlift

User Manual

Issue 3 - March 2005

3  Description of Operation

Your Stairlift is switched on and off using the
On/Off Holding Switch (

2

).

The Stairlift is moved up and down the stairs by
the user operating the Direction Controller on the
armrest (

1

).

For your safety, there is a slight delay between
the Stairlift changing direction or restarting in the
same direction.

When not in use please ensure that the seat
belt is kept clear of the rail.

3.1  Charging Your Stairlift

The Stairlift batteries are recharged from charging points when the Stairlift is in its parked
position at the top and bottom of the stairs. The charging points are connected to a 30 volt
power supply fed from the mains electricity.

IMPORTANT

After installation and demonstration are complete, it is important the lift

batteries are fully charged to achieve optimum performance of the lift. The lift should be
moved to either rail charge point and left on charge for a minimum of

8 hours

. This is a

one off operation, following this initial charging period the batteries will be “conditioned”
and the lift ready for normal operation.

If there is a mains electricity supply failure, or if the supply to your Stairlift is switched off, it
will continue to operate for several journeys.  However, the batteries will eventually lose
their charge and the Stairlift will not operate.

To keep batteries fully charged, the mains electricity supply should always
be switched on and the lift parked on its charge points. If the batteries have
lost their charge because the mains electricity supply has been switched
off, or interrupted, allow them to recharge for a minimum of 2 hours, before
using the lift. If the batteries are not being recharged you will see this
flashing symbol, on the fault indicator, and hear a bleep alarm.

The Symbol will stop flashing when the lift is on a powered charge point
