800513 - Birko Rice Cooker - August 2012 v1.02

Rice Cooking Instructions.     (Save these instructions for reference)

For your convenience, the inner cooking pot features water measurement lines inside
the bowl.  We have also provided a handy cup that is designed to measure rice and
water.

1.   Measure the desired amount of rice using the measuring cup supplied with this
 rice

cooker.

One cup of raw rice will produce approximately two cups of cooked rice.

2.   Rinse the rice with warm water to remove excess bran and starch.

NOTE: Many rice suppliers suggest you should not rinse the rice as vitamin loss

 may

occur.

3.   Gently pour the washed rice into the cooker. When placing rice into the cooking

pot, ensure it is distributed evenly (for even cooking).

4.   Add the correct amount of water by using either the measuring cup or by adding

water to the appropriate line in the pot.

NEVER add water higher than the top water line.

5.   Set the unit on a stable and secure surface. Place the cooking pot into the

cooker, making sure the pot has direct contact with the heating plate. Ensure
good contact by turning it slightly from left to right, until the pot is correctly
positioned.

6.   Close the lid and press down until the latch snaps shut. If the lid is not closed

properly, cooking effi ciency may be affected.

7.   Connect the AC plug into the wall outlet and switch the power on.

NOTE: Do Not turn on the power until ready to cook. Any time this cooker is
plugged in and the switch on the appliance is not immediately set for cooking,
the warming circuit will be operating.

8.   Press the appliance’s operating switch. The rice cooking light will turn on,

indicating the cooking cycle is in progress.

9.   When the cooking cycle has fi nished, the switch button will pop up and a click

will be heard. At the same time, the cooking light will go out and the warming
light will go on.

10.   When cooking is under the ‘Keep Warm’ setting, keep the lid closed for about

10-15 minutes. NOTE: This is an important process to ensure the rice will be
fl uffy and more presentable.

11.   To open the lid, simply push the lid release button.
12.  The ‘Keep Warm’ cycle will continue to operate automatically until the AC plug is

removed from the wall socket.

13.  Keep leftover rice refrigerated. To reheat, put the rice and ¼ cup of water into

the inner pot, place the pot into the cooker and press the appliance’s operating
switch.
