1. AT HOME:
Your CookStove contains an internal battery that is used to power a fan, resulting in a highly-efficient, smokeless wood-burning campfire. Your CookStove will arrive with the battery partially charged, but we strongly
recommend you fully charge the Battery Pack prior to your first outing. 1. Use the included USB cord and plug into an external power source. The port is located at the bottom of your Battery Pack. 2. The LEDs on left will light up and
indicate battery levels. The top LED will flash to indicate recharging has begun. 3. When all four LEDs are lit and the top light is solid, charging is complete. From an empty battery, this will take approximately two hours. NOTE: The
CookStove is for Outdoor Use Only.
2. COOKSTOVE COMPONENTS:
1. Pot Stand. 2. Fuel Chamber. 3. Battery Pack. 4. Battery Level LED Indicator. 5. Fan Speed LED Indicator. 6. Power Button. 7. Folding Legs. 8. USB Cable for Battery Pack Recharging
3. START UP:
- “Fuel” refers to solid biomass, e.g. wood, pine cones, etc. NEVER use liquid fuels or charcoal. 1. Place Battery Pack upwards alongside Fuel Chamber and slide the packs’s hook into chamber’s metal loop. 2. Fully extend all
legs to lock Battery Pack in place. 3. Place on level ground away from any overhanging branches. Clear away dry brush on the ground around the stove. Have water handy in case of accident. 4. Place small, dry fuel in Fuel Chamber;
pack loosely and do not block air jets. 5. Light the fuel. Use a long match or the included firestarter to aid in safe firestarting. See BioLiteEnergy.com/instructions for fire building and fuel-gathering tips. 6. After ten seconds, push Power
Button 2X to start fan on lowest speed. This will start oxygen flow and aid in the startup of your fire. 7. Pushing the Power Button once will activate the battery level indicator. Push twice to access fan and control airflow. Each subse-
quent push will take you through four fan speeds (see figure 4.3). 8. NOTE: To avoid damage to the Power Module, ensure that it is never downwind of the flame.
4. COOKING
: 1. As fire builds, add larger dry fuel. NOTE: Avoid using wet or damp wood or leaves as these smoke excessively and burn poorly. 2. Use Power Button to optimize fire based on your cooking needs. Fan speed LEDs will
illuminate to indicate levels of airflow. When starting the fire or restarting the fire from embers, always use the startup fan setting (one LED) – a HI setting can blow out a weak flame. 3. For rapid boil, push Power Button to TURBO
setting (4 LEDs). For sautee, normal boiling and cooking, push Power Button to BOIL setting (3 LEDs). For simmer, push Power Button to SIMMER setting (2 LED lights). To enjoy a relaxed campfire feel and reserve power in the battery,
push Power Button back to startup setting (1 LED). 4. At peak operation the stove can be packed to the top with fuel. Do NOT pack beyond air jets at top of Fuel Chamber. Packing sticks beyond fuel chamber will result in incomplete
combustion and may present a burn hazard.
CAUTION
- Metal surfaces will be hot. While stove is hot or running, only touch plastic parts. 5. Place pot or KettlePot directly onto CookStove and align handle with Pot Stand. 6. During
cooking, remove pot carefully and add dry fuel as needed. WARNING: Exercise extreme caution when moving pot or adding fuel as pot and its contents are hot. As the pot is placed on the stove, flames may bend around the pot and
present a burn hazard.
5. SHUT DOWN:
1. Allow fire to burn down to cold ash. For live embers, pour into a dugout hole, extinguish with water, and cover with dirt. NOTE: running the fan will help expedite cool down, but will use up battery life. 2. To store the
stove after the Fuel Chamber is cool: A. Fold legs down. B. Remove Battery Pack. C. Slide Battery Pack into Fuel Chamber.
WARNING
: To protect the stove’s components, never pour water into the stove. When dumping embers, remem-
ber to extinguish and bury because live embers can start fires!
6. CLEANING & MAINTENANCE:
Remove Battery Pack from stove body and wipe down with a damp cloth with soap and water. DO NOT submerge in water or allow to get excessively wet. Clean out all ash from Stove Body and scrub with
nylon brush. Dry thoroughly. Keep CookStove in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated place. Avoid storage in excessive heat. Keep out of reach of children. If stove is not used for several months, check battery levels to ensure Battery Pack is
fully charged before your next adventure.
7. POWER SAVER TIME OUT FEATURE:
To avoid accidentally draining the battery, the CookStove features a time-out alert. 1. After an hour of ON mode, the Battery Pack’s indicator LEDs will begin to flash steadily for one minute. 2. If you
are still using the stove, press the Power Button once and the stove will remain in operation. 3. If the Battery Pack was on by accident and it is not in use, it will shut itself off automatically.
8. LOW BATTERY INDICATOR:
When the battery within the Battery Pack hits the 10% mark of remaining life, the first LED light on the right hand side will flash steadily to alert you. 1. This leaves you with 2 hours of Medium-level cooking.
2. If you need more than two hours, use lower fan-speed setting to conserve power or recharge CookStove Battery Pack via external power source such as the BioLite PowerLight or SolarPanel5.
WARNING:
This stove is for outdoor use only. This stove is intended to burn solid biomass only. Never add liquids, gets, plastics, or other accelerants into stove. Metal surfaces will be hot when stove is operating and present a burn
hazard. Not designed for use in heavy rain. Keep Battery Pack dry. Keep out of reach of children. Follow all local fuel collection and fire-making regulations. Cooking and fire policies vary from season to season and park to park. Only
you can prevent forest fires.
DANGER: CARBON MONOXIDE HAZARD.
This stove is for
OUTDOOR USE ONLY.
Never for use in tents, vehicles, indoors, or other places without fresh air. Carbon Monoxide inhalation can cause death or brain damage. Carbon Monoxide
(CO) is produced when fuel burns.
EXPLOSION - FIRE HAZARD.
This stove is intended to burn solid biomass (e.g. wood, pinecones, etc) only. NEVER add liquids, gels, plastics, or other accelerants into stove This stove is hot during use and
can ignite flammable materials too close to the flame. Keep flammable materials at least 18 inches from the sides and 48 inches from the top of the stove. Keep gasoline and other flammable liquids and vapors well away from the
stove. Clean stove frequently to avoid grease accumulation and possible grease fires. Never leave stove unattended.
BURN HAZARD
. Metal surfaces on stove will be hot when stove is operating and present a burn hazard. Handle stove
by Battery Pack only. Flames may be large. Never leave stove unattended when hot or in use. Do not move stove while lit. Keep out of reach of children. Always use on level ground.
BATTERY HAZARD.
The rechargeable battery inside
the Battery Pack may present a risk of fire, explosion, leakage or chemical burn if mishandled. To prevent hazards, keep dry to preclude corrosion of the battery. Keep Battery Pack well away from other heat sources. Do not expose the
battery to excessive physical shock, pressure, or vibration. DO NOT attempt to change the battery yourself. If the battery does not recharge, please contact BioLite for repair information.
FIRESTARTER STICKS.
Flammable. Do not store
near heat, fires, or flames. All precautions should be taken when handling flammable products. Adult supervision necessary. Use of these firestarter sticks with certain solid fuels may be restricted at times by your state or local law. All
applicable rules in your locality should be followed.
CALIFORNIA PROPOSITION 65 WARNING:
Burning wood stove fuels such as natural firewood results in the emission of carbon monoxide, soot and other combustion by-products which
are known by the State of California to cause cancer, birth defects, or reproductive harm.
