GENERAL DESCRIPTION
This unit is designed to not-destructively measure the thickness of non-magnetic coatings (including
paint, enamel, plastic, epoxy, etc) on steel or iron.
OPERATION INSTRUCTION
To Turn on the Unit
Press and hold down the TEST button for about 2 seconds to turn on the unit. The red LED flashes
indicating that the unit is in Stand-by mode.
Normal Operation
When the unit is in Stand-by state, hold the unit far away from metal and press the TEST button
briefly to enter Normal Operation mode. Place the unit with the front firmly and in a right angle against
the coated surface to be measured. If the coating thickness is less than about 1mm, the green LED
will light up. If the coating thickness is between approximately 1mm and 1.8mm, the yellow LED will
light up. If the coating thickness is more than about 1.8mm, the red LED will light up. To return to the
Stand-by state, press the TEST button. If the red LED lights the unit is in normal operation mode.
Reference Operation
When the unit is in normal operation mode, place the unit with the front firmly and in a right angle
against a reference surface whose's coating thickness is less than about 1.8 mm. The thickness of
the coatings on this surface acts as a reference for further measurement. Press the TEST button
again to enter reference operation mode, now the red LED and the green LED flash alternately. When
the unit is removed from the reference surface, the red LED and the yellow LED flash alternately.
Then press the unit to the target surface which you want to compare with the reference surface. If the
coating thickness of the target surface is different to the reference surface, the red LED and the
yellow LED will flash alternately. If the coating thickness of the target surface is the same as that of
the reference surface, the red LED and the green LED will flash alternately.
To Return to the Stand-by Mode
In every operation mode, pressing the TEST button causes the unit return to Stand-by Mode.
Automatic Power-off
If the unit has not been operated for about 20 seconds, it will go into Sleep mode automatically.
In any mode, you can press and hold down the TEST button for more than about 3 seconds to turn off
the unit manually.
