300S-NA Snow Guard Layout for Slate or
Synthetic Slate Roofs:
Every guard will not fit every roofing application. It is important to
know the size and thickness of your slate or synthetic slate prior to
selecting a snow guard.
Vertical spacing will be dictated by the slate's exposure. All
measurements listed below are approximations.
1. The first row shall be installed no lower than two (2) feet from
the edge of the roof and spaced 24" to 30" apart in the rows.
2. Rows one through three to and three shall be spaced 24" to 30"
horizontally and the guards offset 15" to 18" from the course
below.
3. Rows four through six shall be placed 36" to 48"
horizontally and the guards offset 18" to 24" from the course
below. Start this course 30" to 36" up from row three.
4. Mullane products can be custom sized at an additional cost to
meet the specific needs of your project.
5. Snow guards should never be placed beyond the bearing wall
on an extended roof section. This can result in ice damming
and cause structural damage.
6. The number of rows will be dictated by size of the roof and
climate of the location.
7. Improperly insulated roofs will require more snow guards.

The patterns shown are typical for a rafter run of no more than 25 feet in an area with a ground snow load no more than 30 psf. If your
