Operation and controls
WARNING
Risk of fire due to bread
Before every use, be certain that no
bread has become stuck in the
toasting slot.
Never cover the toasting slot. Only
place items to be toasted into the
toasting slots or use the bread roll
attachment.
WARNING
Risk of burns due to hot surfaces
Only grasp the appliance by the plas-
tic handle.
Do not reach into the toasting slots.
Toasting
Proceed as follows:
1. Put the mains plug into a socket.
2. Place the item to be toasted into the
toasting slot (2).
If the item to be toasted is too thick to
fit into the slots (e.g. bagels), then cut
it into two halves.
3. Set the desired degree of toasting
using the rotary control (3).
4. Press the start handle (6). The bread
will be toasted and the operation in-
dicator lamp
(12) will be illumi-
nated.
You may interrupt the toasting process
prematurely by pressing the stop
button
(11). The operation indi-
cator lamp
(12) goes out.
5. The toasting process is complete
when the start handle springs up-
wards. Allow the appliance to cool for
about 30 seconds before removing the
toasted item.
6. Unplug the mains plug from the socket
after use.
Thawing
Proceed as follows:
1. Start the toasting process as de-
scribed in the chapter
Toasting
(page 13)
.
2. Press the Thawing button (9) as
well; the indicator lamp (8) will light
up.
Warming
Proceed as follows:
1. Start the toasting process as de-
scribed in the chapter
Toasting
(page 13)
.
2. Press the Warming button (10) as
well, the Warming indicator lamp
(13) will light up.
Using the bread roll attachment
Proceed as follows:
1. Place the bread roll attachment (5)
onto the appliance.
2. Lay the items to be toasted onto the
bread roll attachment.
3. Now use the appliance as described in
the section,
Warming
(page 13).
Removing stuck bread slices
Proceed as follows:
1. Shut off the toaster by pressing the
Stop button
(11) and
be certain
to pull out the mains plug.
2. Wait until the appliance has cooled
down.
3. Loosen the stuck pieces carefully us-
ing a blunt,
non-metallic
object (e.g.
the handle of a wooden cooking
spoon) without touching the heating
elements of the toaster.
