CHAPTER 8

Running Samples

Sample Requirements

At least 0.5 mL of prepared sample is needed. It must be in a 12 x 75-mm test tube. Samples analyzed 
on the instrument must be in a single-cell suspension. Typically, cells are prepared before they are 
analyzed. The method used to prepare a specimen depends on the sample type and the assay 
desired. For example, a TQ-Prep workstation combined with a PrepPlus or PrepPlus 2 lets you 
prepare antibody-labeled cells from an anticoagulated whole-blood specimen for surface marker 
analysis.

In general, the optimum concentration for analysis is 5 x 10

 cells/mL. When this concentration is 

not possible, refer to the package insert for the preparation method you are using.
