Introduction
Many European vehicles equipped with Becker radios include side tabs (See
Fig.1
)
for locking radio in place. In these vehicles there is no need to disassemble the
dashboard for removal; instead, there is a lock tab spring-load mechanism that
is
“
open
”
in its natural state (See
Fig. 1
) and is what locks radio in place. A
special tool is inserted into the apertures at the front of the unit to push tab into
an
“unlock”
position (See
Fig. 3
) thus freeing up radio from dashboard.
To get started, you will need:
1.
Radio removal tools (

Note:
Despite their physical appearance, both are capable of releasing
these radios from dashboard.
2. Screwdrivers or plyers (optional)
Radio removal
Warning
: Some radios may not slide out the dash as easy as others and may
appear stuck. Applying extra force may to ring openings may harm finger. To
avoid cuts, we recommend using a screwdriver, pliers etc. instead to gain
leverage.
Radios requiring removal tools are identified by key slots on both sides of radio
faceplate. (See
Fig. 1
) This is where tools are inserted
. Let’s get started.
