159
To clean the calibration plate:
1
Verify that the system is in
ERROR
mode due to calibration plate dirt by viewing the system
messages (see Section 11.2.3). The following message should appear:
cal plate dirt test indicates service
2
Turn off the power to the instrument using the switch on the lower right of the instrument. If
necessary, move the instrument away from the wall to open the hood.
3
Open the hopper door. Insert the screwdriver into the exposed hole. Turn the screwdriver to
unlock the hood latch, then lift up the hood.
4
Manually swing out the calibration plate if it is currently stored under the cover.
5
Place one drop of glass cleaning solution on a clean swab. Using an extremely light touch
wipe the calibration plate and surface sensor tip with the swab.
6
Close and relock the hood.
7
Turn on the instrument. If the system is still in the ERROR mode 60 minutes after power-up,
contact BD Technical Service and Support.
8
Note on the Maintenance Schedule (see Section 24) that the calibration plate was cleaned.
16.4 Inspecting the Air Filter
Inspect the air filter assembly weekly to ensure that the instrument is protected from excessive
dust. If the filter assembly is dirty, contact BD Technical Service and Support for a replacement
filter.
The following materials are required:
1 sheet of paper, typing or copy grade, 8 1/2" x 11" or A4
To check the air filter:
Perform this inspection while the instrument is running.
1
Move to the back of the instrument so that the air filter assembly that is located in the upper
right on the back of the instrument is visible. If the instrument has to be moved to gain access
to the air filter, do not move the instrument while slides are being processed.
2
Place an 8 1/2" x 11" (or A4) sheet of paper so that it covers half of the air filter as illustrated
in Figure 16
If the paper remains in place, the filter does not need cleaning. If the paper falls, the filter
needs to be cleaned; Contact BD Technical Service and Support.
WARNING
SHOCK POTENTIAL WHEN CLEANING WITH POWER APPLIED.
ALWAYS TURN OFF THE POWER SWITCH AND UNPLUG THE
POWER CORD BEFORE CLEANING THE INTERNAL
COMPONENTS OF THE DEVICE.
