Monitoring functions of motor-side power module
m
Monitoring function overcurrent (motor)
Any of the three phase currents of the motor is monitored.
If the phase current exceeds the admissible peak value current by 30 %, the pulse inhib-
itor is activated and the BUM 64S/A/F generates a message. This message is saved with-
in the BUM 64S/A/F and transmitted to the controller. The "ready-for-use motor-side
power module" message is erased.
m
Monitoring function earth current (short-circuit)
The earth leakage current of the motor phases is monitored.
When the fault current exceeds 20 % of the peak value of the power section’s admissible
peak current, a message is generated. The reason for that error is most likely an earth
leakage fault at the motor terminals. This message is transmitted to the controller. The
"ready-for-use motor-side power module" is erased.
m
Monitoring function DC link overvoltage
The peak value of the DC link voltage is monitored.
When the DC link voltage reaches 830 V, a message is generated. This message is
passed on to the controller. The message "ready-for-use motor-side power module" is
erased.
m
Monitoring function heatsink overtemperature
The peak value of the DC link voltage is monitored.
A linear temperature sensor is mounted onto the heatsink. Its measured value is trans-
mitted to the controller. The controller that way is taking over the temperature monitoring
(see controller manual). This must be adjusted according to the technical specifications
given in the controller manual. The "ready-for-use motor-side power module" is erased.
NOTE
The overcurrent message and the subsequent blocking of the drive protects it from being
damaged or destroyed. To avoid the “overcurrent (motor)“ message, you must limit the per-
missible peak current of the motor phase currents by the control process.
NOTE
The DC link voltage can rise until cut-off, when the drive is in breaking operation and there is
no or a too high-resistance ballast resistor at the DC link.
CAUTION
The following
may occur
,
if you do not observe this caution information:
m
property damage.
The hazard is:
unit temperature too high.
The maximum admissible temperature of the
heatsink is 90 °C - higher temperatures can destroy the appliance.
Adjust the controller in a way, that the "ready-for-use motor-side power module" is erased by
the controller when the temperature of the heatsink exceeds 85 - 90 °C.
