1. Intended use
This product can be used to supply power to most common laptops via the appropriate output plugs and output
voltage selection. You can operate your laptop or any other low-voltage load through the on-board power point
of a vehicle or aircraft (only for item no. 514089). Do not use this product together with other electronic devices.
The laptop convertor supplies up to 72 W (item no. 514089) / 120 W (item no. 514091) power for your laptop.
The connected electric loads must consume less energy than the maximum output rating of the laptop
convertor. The product contains a set of six output plugs and a key to set the voltage. The product is equipped
with short-circuit and overload protection. Only operate the product in dry indoor environments or in vehicles or
airplanes. Do not expose it to humidity.
For safety and approval purposes (CE), you must not rebuild and/or modify this product. If you use the product
for purposes other than those described above, the product may be damaged. In addition, improper use can
cause hazards such as short circuiting, fire, electric shock etc. Read the instructions carefully and keep them.
Make this product available to third parties only together with its operating instructions.

3. Safety instructions
Read the operating instructions carefully and especially observe the safety information.
If you do not follow the safety instructions and information on proper handling in this
manual, we assume no liability for any resulting personal injury or damage to property.
Such cases will invalidate the warranty/guarantee.
Persons / Product
• This product can become hot when being operated. Ensure sufficient ventilation so the heat created during
operation can dissipate. Make sure that during operation a safety distance of 5 cm minimum above and to
the sides of the product is observed.
• Never operate the product in closed or confined spaces, such as a glove compartment or the seat pocket
of an airplane.
• To avoid injuries or damage, disconnect the product from the input power supply when it is not in use. Do
not operate the device unattended.
• The product may only be used with approved accessories. Using the product with unapproved accessories
can result in serious or fatal injuries or to damage.
• Prior to use read the technical information of your laptop and check its exact power and voltage
requirements. The improper setting of this product or improper use in operating or charging your laptop can
result in serious or fatal injuries or damage.
• Keep the product dry. Direct contact of the product with humidity can result in electric shock, which may
cause serious or fatal injuries or damage. Have the product checked by a specialist before operating it again
after there was direct contact with humidity.
• Check the product and cables prior to every use for damage and wear. If damage has been detected, do
not use the product and/or cable and do not try to repair them. Consult a specialist for a comprehensive
safety check.
• The product’s housing must not be opened. Capacitors in the device may still be charged even if the
device has been disconnected from voltage source. There is risk of electric shock when touching electric
components inside.
• The product should not be used immediately after it has been brought from an area of cold temperature to
an area of warm temperature. Condensed water might destroy the product. Wait until the product adapts to
the new ambient temperature before use.
• The device is not a toy. Keep it out of the reach of children and pets.
• Do not leave packaging material lying around carelessly. These may become dangerous playing material
for children.
• Protect the product from extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, strong jolts, high humidity, moisture,
flammable gases, vapours and solvents.
• Do not place the product under any mechanical stress.
• If it is no longer possible to operate the product safely, take it out of operation and protect it from any
accidental use. Safe operation can no longer be guaranteed if the product:
- is visibly damaged,
- is no longer working properly,
- has been stored for extended periods in poor ambient conditions or
- has been subjected to any serious transport-related stresses.
• Please handle the product carefully. Jolts, impacts or a fall even from a low height can damage the
product.
• Also observe the safety and operating instructions of any other devices which are connected to the product.
Miscellaneous
• Consult an expert when in doubt about operation, safety or connection of the device.
• Maintenance, modifications and repairs are to be performed exclusively by an expert or at a qualified
shop.
• If you have questions which remain unanswered by these operating instructions, contact our technical
support service or other technical personnel.
4. Operation
Setting the output voltage and selecting the output plug
Before use ensure that you have selected the correct voltage setting for your laptop.
Improper voltage settings can cause fire hazards, injuries or damage.
Disconnect the laptop convertor from the power supply and from the laptop before
replacing the output plug. Always use the available grip surfaces when replacing the
output plug.
Pay attention to polarity and rating of the output voltage. Improper polarity or too high an
input voltage can damage the laptop.
1. Using the voltage selector switch and the voltage setting key, set the required output voltage. When setting
the voltage always ensure that the arrow is aligned exactly to the relevant voltage marking.
2. Select one of the six output plugs matching the input socket and polarity of the electric load. The output plug
only fits in one direction into the output power cable. Do not try to apply force when connecting it.
Check the “Technical data” to establish which output plug you need for your laptop. If your
laptop is not listed, note the information on the rating plate of your laptop’s AC power adaptor.
Connecting the 72 W laptop convertor (item no. 514089)
1. This product is designed for connection to an on-board power point of a vehicle or aircraft.
2. Passenger vehicle: Plug the cigarette lighter adaptor onto the end of the input cable and connect the
adaptor to an on-board power point in the vehicle.
3. Aircraft: Press the release button at the end of the input cable and remove the cigarette lighter adaptor.
Connect the end of the input cable to an on-board power point in the aircraft.
Connecting the 120 W laptop convertor (item no. 514091)
1. This product is designed for connection to an on-board power point of a vehicle.
2. Connect the cigarette lighter adaptor to an on-board power point in the vehicle.
Operating the 72 W / 120 W laptop convertor
1. The red LED on the laptop convertor lights up, indicating the product is ready for use.
2. Connect the output plug to the switched-off load (such as a laptop).
3. Now switch the connected load on. If it does not function properly, switch it off immediately and remove it
from the laptop convertor.
4. After use, disconnect the laptop convertor from the voltage source.
Replacing fuse
Use only fuses of the type and current rating stated (see “Technical data”).
Trying to repair the fuses or bridging fuse holders is prohibited.
1. Unscrew the locking screw on the top of the cigarette lighter adaptor.
2. Remove the faulty fuse and replace it with a fuse of the same type.
3. Screw the locking screw back onto the cigarette lighter adaptor.
Fuses are not covered by the warranty.
5. Cleaning
• When cleaning the product must be disconnected from the power supply and from electric loads.
• Only use a dry and soft cloth to wipe down the product’s housing. Do not use any abrasives or solvents.
6. Disposal
Electronic devices are recyclable waste and must not be disposed of in the household waste.
At the end of its service life, dispose of the product according to the relevant statutory
regulations.
