Intended use
Cable tester for unshielded (UTP) or shielded (STP/FTP) RJ-45 modular plug systems up to
CAT7, respectively RJ-11 (RJ-12) modular plug with 2 to 6 cores. Each core of the connected
cable is individually tested and the allocation is shown on a clearly arranged bar graph display.
The test sequence is automatic. The allocation of the cores, respectively potential errors such
as interruption and short circuit can be read directly.
In addition, the BNC coaxial cable can be tested for continuity, interruption and short circuit.
This product is intended for operation with a 9 V block battery.
Avoid contact with moisture.
Do not use the product under adverse ambient conditions. Adverse ambient conditions are:
- dampness or excessive humidity,
- dust and flammable gases, vapours or solvents,
- thunderstorms or similar weather conditions such as strong electrostatic fields etc.
Any use other than that described above can lead to damage to the product and may involve
additional risks such as short circuits, fire, electric shock etc. No part of the product may be
modified or converted! The safety instructions are to be observed without fail!

Inserting/replacing the batteries
During the initial commissioning or if the operation indicator stops flashing, a
new battery must be inserted.
A 9 V block battery (type 6F22 or structurally identical) is required for opera-
tion. A battery is supplied with the device.
To insert/replace the battery, proceed as follows:
Slide the battery compartment lid of the MASTER unit towards the direction
of the arrow.
Remove the used batteries from the battery compartment (12), if necessary.
Connect a new battery with the battery clip, observing the right polarity. Insert
the new battery into the battery compartment and carefully close back the
battery compartment.
You can order a matching replacement battery stating the order number 652509.
Please order one time.
To prevent damage to the device through leaking batteries, remove the battery from the device
if you do not need it for a longer period. For the same reason, it is advisable to remove empty
batteries immediately.
Do not leave batteries lying around unattended. They could be swallowed by
children or pets. If they are swallowed, consult a doctor immediately.
Batteries must not be charged, shorted or thrown into a fire. There is a risk of
explosion.
Commissioning and operation
In order to ensure correct commissioning, you should read these operating
instructions including the safety instructions thoroughly and attentively
before using the device!
The MASTER unit also powers the REMOTE unit via the cable to be tested. For this purpose
the cable to be tested must have two functional cores.
By means of the operating switch two testing speeds can be adjusted.
Switch position OFF: Device is switched off
Switch position ON:
Normal testing speed
Switch position S:
Slow testing speed
Slide the switch to the appropriate switch position.
The switching of cable core tested occurs automatically starting from 1 and repeats itself after
the last cable core. The test interval is signalised by the operating display which is flashing
during the test cycle.
The test always runs through the maximum possible display area. If a cable contains fewer
cores (e.g. telephone lines etc.), only these areas are displayed.
The indication for the BNC connector is only via the LED with the label “B”.
The MASTER unit and REMOTE units can be assembled to one unit by means
of the lateral slot (6) and spring (7). This facilitates the handling when no cable is
installed.
For this, slide the key of the REMOTE unit (7) from above into the slot of the
MASTER unit (6).
Testing of RJ-11 and RJ-45 Cable
RJ-11/RJ-12:
When checking the RJ-11/RJ-12 cables, plug the two plugs of the cable to be tested into the
jacks with the label “RJ-11” (4 and 10).
The display corresponds to the light marked area of LEDs 1 to 6.
