1. Safety

High leakage current:

The combination of multiple tiles in an installation results in increased levels of leakage current. In order to avoid risk of electric
shock due to high leakage current, proper grounding of the installation is required.

Flammable materials:

Keep

fl

ammable materials away from the installation (such as curtains). A lot of energy is transferred into heat. The installation

should be such that the amount of air

fl

ow required for safe operation of the equipment is not compromised. Proper ventilation must

be provided.

ESD and LED’s:

LED components used in X8 displays are ESD (Electro-Static Discharge) sensitive. To prevent the possibility of destroying LED
components do not touch either in operation or while switched off.

Risk of electric shock / Risk of

fi

re:

To protect against risk of

fi

re caused by overloading of power cables, MAXIMUM 4 X8 Connection Boxes may be connected in

parallel. Each power source cable supplying maximum 4 X8 Connection Boxes should be protected by a circuit breaker or fuses
rated 16 A / 250 VAC (15 A / 250 VAC in the USA and Canada). Note that one X8 Connection Box requires 200-240 VAC, 50-60 Hz,
3.6 amps at 200 VAC.

Disconnect device:

When the appliance inlets of the individual tiles are not accessible, the socket outlets supplying the rack shall be installed near the
equipment and be easily accessible, or a readily accessible general disconnect device shall be incorporated in the

fi

xed wiring.

This equipment MUST be earthed:

In order to protect against risk of electric shock, the installation should be properly grounded. Defeating the purpose of the grounding
type plug will expose you to the risk of electric shock.

Power system:

It is recommended to use a TN-S power distribution system (a power distribution system with a separate neutral and grounding
conductor) in order to avoid large ground current loops due to voltage differences in the neutral conductor. The total electrical
installation should be protected by an appropriately rated disconnect switch, circuit breakers, over voltage protector and Ground Fault
Current Interrupters. The installation shall be done according to the local electrical installation codes. In Europe special attention
should be given to HD 60364, Harmonization Document for electrical installation of buildings. In Germany VDE 0100 should be
adhered to. In America, special attention should be given to the National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70.

Mains cords:

The power cords delivered with this system have special properties for safety. They are not user serviceable. If the power cords are
damaged, replace them only with new ones. Never try to repair a power cord.

Data cables:

The data cables provided with this system have special properties for safety. They are not user serviceable. If the data cables are
damaged, replace them only with new ones. Never try to repair a data cable. Per requirements of the National Electrical Code®
in the USA , the length of a data cable must not exceed 42 m (140 feet). Avoid exposure of data cables to accidental contact with
lightning or power conductors.

Maximum height

The maximum height of a X8 display is limited: maximum 3 tiles high for a

fl

oor mount and maximum 13 tiles high for a hanging

con

fi

guration.

Base surface

Do not install a base stand X8 display upon a smooth surfaces. Place rubber mats between the foot beams of the LED wall and the
smooth surface to increase friction

1.4

Proper usage

Proper usage of X8 tiles

No part of the X8 tile can come in contact with any type of corrosive substance.

Using the LED product in an environment with high corrosive gasses (e.g. Sulphur) can lead to discoloration of the materials.
This discoloration gives a change in brightness of the product. This could lead to uniformity differences and possibly also to
failures. Each use of the product in this kind of environment needs to be checked up-front with the supplier.

X8 tiles are to be used in environments meeting the operating speci

fi

cations.

X8 tiles are not to be used in environments that are subject to airborne contaminants such as that produced by smoke machines
(cracked oil) or similar (these deposit a thin layer of greasy residue upon the LEDs optics, degrading performance).

X8 tiles are not to be exposed to extreme localized heat or cold exceeding the temperature speci

fi

cations.

X8 tiles are not to be exposed to any element or situation that will cause any part of the display to heat beyond what occurs
during normal operation. Such situations include but are not limited to lasers, ultrasonic vibration, or any type of substance that
prevents proper ventilation and heat radiation of the X8 tiles.
