Barco’s DP series: six reasons why
Built on the success and worldwide accept-
ance of the DP90 and DP100 D-Cine projec-
tors, Barco is proud to expand the DP se-
ries, with new models (DP-1500, DP-2000,
DP-3000) targeted at a broader range of ven-
ues. These models are based on the Texas
Instrument’s DLP Cinema 1.2 and 0.98 inch
chips, which offer the flawless, pristine pic-
ture that has made DLP Cinema
®
famous.
True, Texas Instruments’ technology is the
kernel around which projectors from all ma-
jor suppliers are designed. But with every
Barco DP series projector, a series of six key
differentiators separate us from the pack —
giving you a remarkable advantage for the
long term.
Image quality
Each Barco DP series projector is de-
signed around a sealed engine, which
effectively immunizes the system’s op-
tical path against contamination by dirt
and dust. By employing a sealed engine,
blurring and dark spots are eliminated
on screen – thus providing stable and
superior image quality over time. The
image you see upon first installation – is
the
same image
you see with each sub-
sequent projection.
Equipment lifetime
DLP Cinema technology is extremely
reliable. The engine lifetime can be
enhanced even further through a con-
trolled and stabilized chip temperature.
Barco’s exclusive cooling technology
employs peltier elements to monitor the
DLP Cinema Chip’s temperature, transfer
heat as required, and maintain a steady
engine temperature. The direct result is
an extended engine lifetime which in
turn could lower maintenance costs.
Total cost of ownership
In the digital cinema environment, clear-
ly, downtime and revenue are mutually
exclusive. Barco’s solution is a modular
design in which every core component
is swappable via side access. This unique
feature (standard on all DP series pro-
jectors) lowers downtime and improves
overall service turnaround times. And
modularity has an added benefit. If your
facility switches modes from 2D to 3D
projection, you can simply and rapidly
swap
lamp housings – rather than change
bulbs in a single housing.
Reliability
Each DP series projector is engineered
for reliability and robustness – not sim-
ply in the engine and optical path, but
in the basic power system itself. Redun-
dant power supplies have been a main-
stay of the IT industry for years, and that
feature is now available in Barco’s DP
series. This intelligent system not only
provides electronic security, but secu-
rity in the knowledge that your revenue
streams are protected.
NOC compliance
The need to monitor equipment in a
contemporary networked environment
is critical to your design and cost of op-
eration – not only for statistical tracking,
but for error reporting and fault analysis.
Barco’s Communicator Software now of-
fers an SNMP (Simple Network Manage-
ment Protocol) V3 agent that can moni-
tor your facility’s projectors – locally or
remotely. Reports can be issued to the
customer, integrator, or to the NOC (Net-
work Operations Center).
Future proof
Digital Cinema Initiatives (DCI) was a
joint venture between seven major mo-
tion picture studios, whose mission was
to establish uniform recommendations
for the digital cinema industry. The ob-
jective was to ensure a high degree of
technical performance, reliability and
quality control in all digital cinema prod-
ucts. By being the first manufacturer to
fully integrate a DCI-compliant hardware
design into production, Barco’s position
is bold – your investment is sound, with
a future proof guarantee.
