Secondary Device Functions (continued)
5.7
Inclination and Installation Aid
5.7.1 Description
This feature offers two functions:
1. Inclination detection
2. Installation and alignment aid
The function detects the inclination of an installed IO-Link
device. In addition, an inclination change in relation to a
reference value can be detected.
The deflection can be rotation, inclination or movement.
With this function, the inclination (green arrow) can be
detected but not others (red arrows).
– Measuring range: 0…180°
– Resolution: 1°
– Accuracy: +/-1°
– Measurement period: 1000 ms (data refresh rate =
1 second)

Using the feature
1.
Switch on, establish IO-Link communication.
2.
Send system command
0xC0
.
⇒
The inclination measurement data is available via
ISDU (e.g., 0x2154) or via the process data.
5.7.2 Mathematics/Algorithm
With this function, the inclination deviation (angle)
describes the inclination of the IO-Link device compared to
its original or reference installation position. The reference
orientation can be arbitrary; this means that the installation
position can be arbitrary. The inclination deviation is
compared neither directly with the horizontal plane nor
with the vertical gravitational field, but rather with the
orientation taught-in by the end user.
In summary:
– Inclination deviation = absolute value of (taught-in
reference orientation – actual orientation)
– Values: 0…180
– Unit: Degrees (°)
As an auxiliary function, the function can detect whether
the device has lost its original position. The configuration
can be performed via ISDU parameters (see section
on page 42).
