Split Range Operation

Split ranging permits operation of two valves in sequence from one 4-20 mA control signal. To 

accomplish this with the 4700E/4800E, the two positioners are connected in series as shown 

in 

Figure 15, with the actual split ranging done by proper cam segment selection per tables in 

“Cam Lobe Selection and Lever Arm Orientation” on page 53. 

NOTE

With this configuration, the voltage burden of the 4-20 

mA controller is 10 V instead of 5 V.
