SERVICE SECTION
SECTION 1: HYDROSTATIC SYSTEM
The hydro reservoir tank on the Outlaw model is located
on each side of rear cover. Notice the “full cold” line at the
bottom of the tank. Use only 20w50 motor oil in this tank.
Conventional or synthetic oil may be used.
THE FOLLOWING MAINTENACE IS TO
BE PERFORMED ON A LEVEL SURFACE.
To change filter, start by removing the filter housing cap
(pictured below). The filter also serves as the oil drain. The
Outlaw transaxles hold 4 quarts of hydro oil apiece, and the Outlaw Extreme holds 4.75 quarts per transaxle. Install
new filters using only Hydro-Gear brand filters. Use of other brands could void the warranty. Transaxle service is
recommended after the first 50 hours of use; then at intervals of 250 usage hours.
Pictured on the right are transaxles that are equipped
on either the Outlaw or Outlaw Extreme. The Outlaw
utilizes a Hydro-Gear, 4400 series transaxle (top);
the Outlaw Extreme uses a Hydro-Gear, 5400 series
transaxle (bottom). The transaxles are ‘integrated’ as
they house both the hydraulic pump and wheel motor.
The filter housing, bypass valve, and check valve
(5400) are noted. After draining used oil by way of
the filter housing, replacing the used filter with a new
Hydro-Gear filter, and replacing the filter housing cap,
the transaxles are refilled by adding oil (20W-50) into
the hydro reservoirs (pictured above).
