5.2 Maintained operating mode: connecting the L, L1, N and PE leads
2) Maintained operating mode
Luminaire in maintained operating mode. For charging the battery, the lamp has a continuous phase (L)
connection to the power supply. When there is an uninterrupted power supply, the bridge from L to L1 ensures
that the lamp remains in constant operation. In case of power failure, the luminaire automatically switches into
emergency lighting mode on battery power. Finally you need to connect the battery to the power supply provided
(prepared plug connection).
5.3 Maintained operating mode with external switch: connecting the L, L1, N and PE leads
3) Maintained operating mode with external switch
Luminaire in maintained operating mode with external switch. For charging the batteries, the luminaire has a con-
tinuous phase connection (L) to the power supply. In parallel to this, the luminaire can be switched on and off via
a second switched phase (L1), e.g. in dependence on the general lighting system. When the power supply is
continuous, the luminaire can be put into operation by means of the external switch. In case of a power failure,
the luminaire switches over automatically into emergency lighting mode with power from the battery, irrespective
of the current switch setting. Finally you need to connect the battery to the power supply provided (prepared plug
connection).
5.4 Switching for central power supply: connecting the L, L1, N and PE leads
The luminaire can also be connected in central power supply operating mode. To do this, you should connect the
luminaire as shown in section 5.2 above.
Do not however connect the battery to the power supply provided (pre-
pared plug connection).
6. Operation
When connected to the power network, the emergency luminaire switches into operating mode. In operating
mode, the battery will be permanently charged. The correct operating mode will be indicated by the lighting up of
the green LED. When the luminaire is disconnected from the power network or in case of a failure of the exter-
nal power supply, the emergency luminaire will switch into emergency operation and the green LED will be
extinguished.
7. Testing / faults
We recommend that you carry out the following test procedures with a view to checking the correct functionality
of the emergency luminaires:
7.1 Check every day that the green LED is permanently illuminated.
7.2 Once a month, carry out a test by pressing the test button on the outside of the housing. This will simulate a
power failure, and the emergency luminaire will switch over into emergency operation.
