Continuous Wave Doppler Mode
Overview
In Continuous Wave (CW) Doppler, ultrasound is transmitted as a continuous wave
and analyzed as it returns. CW Doppler provides greater sensitivity when measuring
high flow regions such as near the heart.
Adjusting the Thermal Index Limit
Before you use CW Doppler mode, check that the TI settings are appropriate. The
current TI tissue type and limit are displayed just under the B-K Medical logo in the
upper left corner of the screen.

page 138.
Adjusting MI
You can adjust the maximum allowed MI (mechanical index).
To adjust the MI limit:

Click MI above Gain on the left side of the screen and drag the slider.
Turning CW Doppler Mode On or Off
When you turn on CW Doppler mode, B-mode must be scanning.
To turn on Doppler mode:

The CW Doppler Sample Region appears superimposed on the B-mode image.
To position the CW Doppler Sample Region on a larger B-mode image, press
[

]
and
position the CW Doppler indicator before you press

CW
k
]
.
To turn on CW Doppler Spectrum:

E
]
Note: The B-mode image and the CW Spectrum cannot be active at the same
time.
