Product discription:
The BZU 10-02 is a CATV signal tester for purely digital CATV systems. The
device has two selective main measuring ranges, additionally broadband
measurement is possible.
The BZU 10-02 is not a replacement for a measuring instrument and
nor does it determine sloping positions. It also cannot measure DVB-T
signals.
Delivery:
9
BZU 10-02: Signal tester
9
MAK 30-80: Patch cable, F/F, 30 cm
9
CFA 2-00: Adapter IEC female/ F-female
Connection:
Connect the signal tester to the TV output of an antenna wall outlet.
Use the cable MAK 30-80 and the adapter CFA 2-00 for this purpose.
Or:
Connect the signal tester to the output of a house connection amplifier.
Use the MAK 30-80 cable for this purpose.
Operation:
Press the
Digital VHF
button.
The average level of a single channel between 254…294 MHz is displayed.
The scale to the right of the row of LEDs counts.
Press the
Digital UHF
button.
The average level of a single channel between 398...438 MHz is displayed.
The scale on the right of the row of LEDs counts.
Upon releasing the key, the tester is switched off again.
Broadband measurement of the total level:
The measurement of the total level can provide information about whether an
in-house distribution network or a TV set can work in general or not.
Press both buttons simultaneously.
The total level over the entire detector bandwidth up to 2700 MHz is
displayed. The
green scale
to the left of the row of LEDs counts.
The total level of a CATV spectrum depends on the number of channels in
the spectrum. Under the ideal assumption that the level of all channels in the
spectrum is the same, the total level compared to the individual channel level
is higher by the values in the following table:

As a result, that usually in the broadband measurement mode (scale is 20 dB
higher than the individual channel view) the same LED lights up like in the
selective test, or one below. If one of the higher LED lights up, this can have for
example the following reasons:
9
Too strong pre-equalization of the signal by an amplifier
9
Very strong interferers in the spectrum (LTE, Ingress, ...)
9
Incorrectly levelled CATV signals
9
…
In these cases, the system may not work correctly. In order to be able to
characterize this more precisely and to be able to evaluate the negative effects
exactly, a high-quality antenna measurement receiver or TV meter must be
used.
