2.1 Installation guide
To install this product correctly, please follow the steps below:
1. Find a desired location on the water pipe for measuring the water temperature.
NOTE
: Make sure not to mount the temperature sensor in locations where air pockets
can occur.
2. Make sure that the transmitter, wire, sensor, and sensor pocket are placed without
interrupting the operation of valves or similar.
3. Make sure that the temperature sensor is installed inside the sensor pocket to seal the
connection properly
4. Install the sensor pocket in a tapping saddle (e.g., AVK’s tapping saddles with blade
shut off for easier sensor replacements, see the Product Fit Guide)
5. Mount the transmitter in a location with good radio connection using the included steel
bracket.
Please look in the VIDI Provisioning Manual for further setup.
2.2 Operation description
AVK Smart Water’s VIDI products are equipped with a long-lasting non-rechargeable lithium
battery-powered device that allows the acquisition of physical quantities and sending them
using low-power radio equipment.
The transmitter sends a data package every 30 minutes for LoRa® devices and every 60
minutes for NB-IoT devices, containing a message with the measured values with five minutes
resolution. In case an alarm is detected (tamper or battery alarm), an additional data package is
sent immediately.
2.3 Activation/deactivation
Provisioning and configuration are explained in the VIDI Provisioning Manual.
3. Maintenance
3.1 Battery replacement
The battery replacement can be done by opening the plastic casing. First unscrew the four
screws at the bottom with a 6mm Torx screwdriver (not included) and remove the lid, carefully.
Carefully take out the battery from the casing and disconnect the wire connector attached to the
Printed Circuit Board (PCB). Replace it with a new battery by connecting the wire connector to
the PCB.
A new battery can be requested at your local AVK supplier.
Once the battery is replaced in the case of the LoRaWAN™ transmitter, the message
counters are reset to zero. You must then also reset LoRa® server-side.
