Installing and Configuring the Graphic
Device Service
MediaCentral Command lets you control third-party graphics devices via the Graphic device service
(GDS).
This chapter provides instructions for installing the device service as well as configuration
information needed when integrating Command with third-party plug-ins or CII-based devices.

In almost all cases, Avid Service Framework and the device service should be installed on the
graphics device, not the Command Server. The only exception is if you are controlling the graphics
device via a serial connection.

Installing Avid Service Framework
Each computer and device running MediaCentral Command software requires at least the core
components of Service Framework and must be able to connect to a computer running the
Avid
Lookup service.
To install the Service Framework software:
1. Insert the Command installation CD (or access the install program from the network).
The autorun installation program starts and displays the following screen.
