 HDX-192 Cooling Kit Installation

6

Using a #2 Phillips screwdriver, remove the screw on the front
bracket of the HDX cards that secure them to the chassis. Set
each screw aside.

7

To remove the HDX-192 card in slot 1, do the following:

• Carefully pull the card towards you just far enough to free

its PCIe connector from its corresponding PCIe slot.

• Carefully slide the back end of the card out so it clears its

plastic slot on the retaining bracket as shown below. Do

not

pull the card completely out.

• Holding the card with your right hand, carefully reach in

with your left hand and disconnect the DigiSerial cable con-
nected to the port on the front/faceplate of the card.

• Set the card aside.

8

Do either of the following depending on your E6L:

• If your E6L only has this single HDX-192 card, proceed to

“Installing the Fan Assembly” on page 3.

• If your E6L has additional HDX-192 cards, continue with

the following steps.

9

If your E6L has more than one HDX-192 DSP Card, do the
following for each additional card, starting with the one in the
highest slot:

• Carefully pull the card towards you to free its PCIe connec-

tor from its corresponding PCIe slot, then slide the card
completely out.

• Set each card aside.

10

Proceed to “Installing the Fan Assembly” on page 3.

Installing the Fan Assembly

One Fan assembly is installed on each HDX-192 card by doing
the following:

• Connecting power to the Fan assembly.

• Attaching the Fan assembly to the HDX-192 card.

To install a Fan assembly:

1

Remove the Fan assembly and all included items from the
Cooling Kit packaging and place them on your table near the
HDX-192 card. Orient the Fan assembly and HDX-192 card as
shown below.

Make sure the DigiSerial cable does not fall into the chassis
housing. If necessary, use a small strip of lightweight tape to
secure its connector to the core chassis to keep it accessible.

Figure 10. Disconnecting the DigiSerial cable

On some older E6L Engines the serial cable connection to the
HDX card in slot 1 was secured with hot glue. If you have an
older E6L you will need to break the glue off.
