User Notes

The Pulsus phono stage has optimized internal circuitry designed to minimize hum and noise while

maximizing the signal headroom.

The phono stage has an unbalanced input RCA connector that will work with all types of turntable.
Channel inputs are colour coded; right signal input is coded in RED, left signal in WHITE.

Pulsus allows the user to optimize the phono stage to the many different cartridges available. This is
achieved using the switches easily accessible on the underside of the main Pulsus phono unit. The

switches are configured in left and right channel and should both have the same settings.

The smaller switch selects between the three different gain options. For a normal high output moving
magnet cartridge the switches should all set to “OFF”. When using moving coil cartridges the switch

position will depend on the cartridge output voltage and the preamp it is used with. Some
experimentation will be needed to give the best results. As a general rule the MC (high) setting is for

cartridges with outputs from 100 to 500uV and MC (low) setting for 500uV to 3mV.

The larger switches adjust the input resistance and capacitance that the cartridge sees as a load. Most

cartridge manufacturers give a recommended loading for their product. The loadings can be
experimented with to achieve the desired sound. No harm can come to the Cartridge or phono stage

by deviating from the manufacturers recommended settings.

The phono stage has an unbalanced output RCA connector suitable for connection to your amplifier.
