Re-imaging Your System
This guide provides information on how to use the USB Flash Drive (UFD) provided to install the
Windows 10 factory operating system (OS) image on a AirSpeed 5000 / AirSpeed | 5500 that
previously had a Windows 7 factory operating system. After performing this procedure, the system
will have a factory OS with Windows 10. You will need to install the AirSpeed 5000 application, and
reconfigure the software settings.

Before you start, here are the steps to verify if your Airspeed is the right candidate for this
upgrade:
-Observe the back of your AirSpeed Chassis, there should be 4 identical Ethernet ports marked with
'LAN1', 'LAN2', 'LAN3' and 'LAN4'. These ports are all characterized as 1GB Ethernet ports. If these
ports are not identical, then this Airspeed is not a Castor motherboard-based Airspeed. And this
Windows 10 image is NOT suitable for this Airspeed.
-On the AirSpeed, click on the windows icon at the bottom left of the screen. Click 'run', and type
'msinfo32.exe'. In the “System Information” window, check if in the 'system summary' on the right
side, the 'System Model' is shown as 'Thurley'. If not, then this Windows 10 image is NOT suitable for
this Airspeed.
Upgrade Known Issues
The upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10 has been tested to show no functional or system
performance differences. These are the known issues:
•
Network Interface Card teaming. On Windows 7 systems, the two identical Intel Pro/1000
adapters could be configured as part of an Adapter Team. After upgrading to Windows 10, the
adapters could no longer be configured as part of an Adapter Team. This is due to the NIC driver
no longer being updated by its manufacturer and therefore it is a hardware limitation on the
Window 10 platform. If Adapter Teaming is required, then upgrade to Windows 10 is not
recommended.
•
AirSpeed software version of 3.0.13 or later is required for Windows 10 upgrade.
