INSTALLATION AND OPERATION INSTRUCTIONS

FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION

The

FBR-8V2DB(M/S)-TX

 and

FBR-8V2DB(M/S)-RX

operate as a transmitter / receiver pair for the

transmission of eight baseband NTSC or PAL video signals, with two channels of bi-directional RS422
or RS485 data over a single multimode or single-mode fiber.

The

FBR-8V2DB(M/S)-TX

converts eight video inputs, and two data inputs to an optical fiber output.

The

FBR-8V2DB(M/S)-TX

also converts an optical fiber input, returning over the same fiber, into two

data outputs.

The

FBR-8V2DB(M/S)-RX

converts an optical fiber input into eight video outputs, and two data

outputs. The

FBR-8V2DB(M/S)-RX

also converts two data inputs into an optical fiber output, returning

over the same fiber.

These units are contained in compact and rugged steel housings with internal dc voltage regulation. The
detachable terminal blocks and LED indicators provide for easy installation and monitoring of video,
optical link, data, and dc power.

The units operate either surface mounted as modular, stand alone units, or within a rack mounted card
cage.

INSTALLATION

THE INSTALLATION OF THIS UNIT SHOULD BE MADE BY A QUALIFIED SERVICE
PERSON(S) AND MUST CONFORM TO ALL LOCAL CODES.

The general connectivity of the units is detailed in Figure 1.

Mount the unit to a secure surface using #8 (3mm) hardware in four places. See Figure 3 for a full size
mounting template. Be sure to allow sufficient room for the required minimum bend radius of the fiber
cable used.

POWER SOURCE

The unit requires a +12VDC power source for proper operation. The DC input is diode protected against
reverse polarity connection.

In the USA and in Canada, for standalone surface mounted installation, an Aventura Technologies FBR-
PSUS12DC1A is supplied with this unit. Contact Aventura Technologies for ordering power supply
units for use in countries other than the USA and Canada.

When installed in a rack mounted card cage, the power for the unit is supplied from the card cage’s
power supply.

POWER CONNECTION

Power is supplied to the unit via a two pin terminal connector. Follow the labeling on the unit for proper
connections of the +12 volt dc and ground leads.
