Configuration scenarios

The following section describes special configuration scenarios and their behavior.

Important:

When the SSID filter is set, you must not enable the promiscous mode.

Scenario 1 — include- ssid:

Observation: No packets are captured.

Reason: In the Remote packet capture driver,

ssid

is converted to

bssid

. This

bssid

compared with the one from the beacon, which never matches and therefore no packet is
captured.

Scenario 2 — include-probe + ssid:

Observation: The probe request packets are observed but with a different ssid (the ssid filter
did not work)

Reason: When the probe request has a broadcast

bssid

, the comparison does not happen.

Hence all probe requests are captured with a different

ssid
