The aim of EU’s Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) directives
2002/96/EC and the RoHs directive is to reduce waste from electric and
electronic products and to recycle as much of the materials as possible. Any
remaining waste should be virtually risk-free to handle and the risk of hazardous
emissions should be minimal.
