Cylindrical Knob Lockset

Installation Instructions

Lock Case

Mark Door

Mark horizontal line across the edge
of the door at the height you want to
install knob. Fold template over
edge of door, centering on horizontal
line. Mark centers of holes.

Install Latch Unit

Bore 2-1/8" hole through door, and hole
into edge of door at points marked on
the door. Cut out for latch front 5/32"
deep and install latch unit.

-IMPORTANT- 
Adjust for Door Thickness

To adjust lock rotate outside rose and 
position as indicated in accord with the 
door thickness. To adjust for any door 
thickness between 1-3/8" and 1-3/4" 
set the rose plate at a suitable 
intermediate position.

Install Inside Rose Plate and Rose

Slip on rose plate and locate screw
holes on vertical centerline. Insert
machine screws and tighten
alternately to obtain secure attachment.
Place rose over rose plate aligning
notch in rose with tab on rose plate and
snap rose down flush with door.

Remove Inside Knob

If knob retainer is not visible, turn inside
knob counterclockwise approximately
45°. Use small nail or wire to depress
retainer and slide knob off.
NOTE: For 5316 Lockset only. To
remove inside knob, follow instructions
in Step 9 under heading "All 5300
Series Locksets".

Install Lock

With lock case in place, insert lock
assembly into 2-1/8" (54mm) hole,
making sure that lock case hooks the 
retainer legs and retractor engages the 
bolt tail. 

Do Not Force.

Caution: 

If deadlocking latch unit is 

installed, do not attempt to mount 
lock unit with door closed, as 
deadlocking plunger bar will interfere.

Install Inside Knob

Align lug on knob with narrow slot on
side of spindle and push knob all the
way in until retainer clicks into slot on
knob.
NOTE: For 5305 lock only.
Refer to Step 9 before installing
inside knob. When installing knob
make sure button is pushed in and
turned clockwise to lock outside knob.

Install Strike

Mark height line for strike on jamb.
Mark vertical centerline on jamb. This
centerline must be same distance from
door stop as latch unit centerline is from
edge of door which will hit stop. Cut 
mortise in jamb for strike and box (if
used). Insert box and strike and tighten
screws securely.

-IMPORTANT-

All locks are set for a right hand door.
If the lock is properly installed, the cuts
on the key will be facing up when the
key is inserted into the knob.
