Building Your Bot
Thanks for making with us!
Give your Bot legs
Twist the two fuzzy legs together in the shape of an “X” and attach the
center of the “X” to the center of your toothbrush head using a glue dot.
Bend the ends of the legs up to create feet. Make sure the feet hover
slightly off the ground – they are there for balance and will slow your bot
down if they actually touch the ground.
Test the electronics
Test the battery and motor by touching one motor wire to the top of the
battery and the other wire to the bottom. The motor should spin
vigorously.
Complete the circuit
When you’re ready for the bot to start moving, connect the second
motor wire to the TOP of the battery with a sticker dot and watch your
Bristle Bot scoot across the table!
Mount the electronics
Use two Glue Dots to firmly attach the motor on one side of the top of
the toothbrush head. Make sure that the weight on the motor is able to
spin freely without hitting the toothbrush. Fasten the battery firmly to
the top of the toothbrush with the sticker side facing DOWN.
Connect one side of the circuit
Using a sticker dot, connect one of the motor’s wires to one side of the
battery. (It doesn’t matter which lead OR which side of the battery)
Finally, decorate with pompoms and eyes, and enjoy!
(Don’t let pompom fuzzies get stuck in the spinning motor – the motor will break.)
