All references to left, right, front
or rear are given from the perspective of
operator in operator’s position, facing the
direction of forward travel.
ADJUST WHEEL DRIVE
CONTROL LEVER
Models 911175, 911179
The unit’s forward speed should increase as
the wheel drive control lever is pulled closer
to the handlebar, and the unit should stop
immediately when the lever is released. If the
unit does not accelerate smoothly, slips under
load or creeps forward when the lever is
released, the wheel drive control cable may
need adjustment.
IMPORTANT:
DO NOT over-adjust cable and
disable the return-to-neutral function.
Forward drive MUST stop immediately when
wheel drive control lever is released.
1. Stop engine, wait for all moving parts to
stop and for hot parts to cool.
2. Clean dirt and debris from the drive
components.
3. Make sure the return spring is connected
to transmission bracket. See Figure 31.

4. Loosen jam nuts on cable adjustment
barrel.
5. Adjust cable tension.
• To increase lever response, loosen the
upper jam nut and tighten the lower jam
nut until both jam nuts are tight against
cable bracket.
• To decrease lever sensitivity, loosen the
lower jam nut and tighten the upper jam
nut until both jam nuts are tight against
cable bracket.
6. Check the adjustment.
a. Start the engine. See
b. Slowly pull the wheel drive control
lever against handlebar. The unit
should move forward smoothly and
increase in speed as handle is pulled
closer to handlebar.
c. Release the wheel drive control lever.
The unit should stop immediately and
not creep forward.
ADJUST OPERATOR PRESENCE
CONTROL (OPC) LEVER
The OPC lever is non-adjustable. If engine
and / or blade does not stop within 3 seconds
of releasing the OPC lever, see your Ariens
dealer.
