Troubleshooting:

Before visiting your local HobbyTown store for service

If you:

Have initial performance concerns in Mode 1 flight

If during your first few flights, the helicopter struggles to take off or only rises slightly off the floor,

don’t be alarmed. It may take several flights for the motors to break in. During break-in this behav-

ior is normal for high performance motors like those in the Exera.
If after 3 or 4 flights and re-charges of the battery, the flight performance still feels “sluggish”, you

may need to calibrate the flight system to fine-tune peak motor performance. If that’s the case

please refer to page 14 in the manual for instructions on how to calibrate.  Do not calibrate your

helicopter until after you have flown at least 3-4 flights and the performance is still sluggish, as this

may not provide the intended performance benefit.

To help keep new pilots out of “trouble” during early flights, in Mode 1 flight the heli is designed

with throttle limiters that allow a maximum altitude of about 3ft (1 meter).

Are flying off of carpet or soft surfaces

Lose the connection from your transmitter to the helicopter

Because of the scale design, the Exera may want to

lean backwards when taking off from soft surfaces

like carpet.
To prevent “leaning back” from happening, simply

install the black plastic landing gear extenders (in-

cluded in the accessory bag with the screwdriver) to

the back of the landing gear as shown in the photo.

If you have lost the connection between the

transmitter and receiver the LED on the tail of

the helicopter will show 2 short blinks fol-

lowed by a long pause.

Quickly plug a fully charged battery into the

4-in-1 control board following the battery wire

routing instructions mentioned previously.

While pressing in on the throttle stick, turn on

the transmitter. Once it begins to beep you can

release the throttle stick.

The stock landing skids were designed to maintain

the scale appearance of the MD 500E.

Leave the helicopter sitting still for several seconds until it initializes. Wait for the red LED on

the tail to go from fast blinking (binding in process) to a slow blink. Once the LED is blinking

slowly and the transmitter stops beeping, you can move the right stick to make sure you have

control and the helicopter is bound, or “connected” to the transmitter.
