2. Remove the starter motor. Account for two cap
screws and one O-ring.
3. Remove nine right-side cap screws and one
left-side cap screw securing the crankcase halves
together; then using a plastic mallet, tap the
right-side case from the left-side case leaving all
components in the left-side case. Account for two
alignment pins and a gasket.

4. Remove the balancer shaft; then remove the crank-
shaft assembly and camshaft drive chain.

5. Remove the shift detent bolt, spring, and detent
ball.

NOTE: For steps 6-9, use photo TR115A.
6. Remove the shift shaft (A); then remove the shift
fork shaft (B) and holding the shift fork away from
the shift cam (C), remove the shift cam.

7. Remove the main shaft assembly (D) along with
the shift fork (E). Account for a spacer and washer.
8. Remove the countershaft (F).
9. Remove two cap screws securing the bearing
retainers to the crankcase; then using a press or
plastic mallet, remove the driveshaft assembly (G)
from the crankcase.

10. Using the appropriate bearing puller or driver,
remove the required bearings from the crankcase
halves.
