OVERLOADING
Your Magnum hand winch incorporates a safety overload shear pin. This pin is fitted to
the base of the forward handle and in the event that you overload the winch, the pin will
break, preventing further forward winching. The reversing lever will still operate to
release the load. Spare pins are stored in the carry handle and if used, should be replaced
with only genuine Magnum shear pins (P/No. MHWSP).
To remove the shear pin, simply hit the pin with a suitably sized pin punch and engineers
hammer. Place the new pin over the hole and drive the pin in with the hammer until flush
with the surface of the lever.
NOTE: Remember to use safety glasses, as debris may be harmful.
Before resuming winching, ensure that the cause of the overload is removed. This may
involve adjusting the rigging so be sure to properly secure the vehicle.
