1. GENERAL INFORMATION
1.1 GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Model ATH7G18 High-Gain Horn Antenna is a complete, self-contained unit which is well suited for
either shielded room or free space testing over the frequency range of 8.0 to 18.0GHz.
It has a power handling capability to 250 watts with a minimum gain of 11.2dB at 8GHz increasing linearly to
over 14.7dB at 18GHz. With the Gain enhancer it has a minimum gain of 17.4dB at 8.0GHz increasing
linearly to over 20.2dB at 18.0GHz.
This versatile antenna works equally well as a radiator for RF susceptibility testing or as a receiving antenna
for emissions testing.

1.4 INSTALLATION
Before proceeding, thoroughly inspect the antenna for any signs of physical damage which may have incurred
during shipment. Completely read the following operating instructions, paying particular attention to all
CAUTION notes.
1.4.1
RF Connection
Waveguide losses, especially at the higher frequencies, can be held to a minimum by using low loss
waveguide.
The waveguide should be terminated with a WRD 750 in order to mate with the WRD 750 provided on the
antenna.
1.4.2
RF Power Amplifier
In shielded rooms, reflections and room losses will reduce the available field. AR RF/Microwave
Instrumentation recommends a design safety factor of 100% in the selection of power amplifiers.
Optimum performance will be achieved with the Model ATH7G18 Antenna when used in conjunction with
one of our Broadband Microwave Power Amplifiers.
