Filter Unit Maintenance
MONTHLY: Filter and Pump Maintenance
Refer to Filter Diagrams on Page 4.
1. Switch the power to the FIlter off and disconnect the
cable from the power outlet.
2. Remove the pump from the filter by disconnecting
the duckbill from the outlet and lifting out the pump.
Take the pump to the sink for cleaning.
3. Remove the impeller cover to allow access to the
impeller.
4. Pull the impeller from the motor and rinse under
running water. Use a pipe brush to clean the impeller
and the impeller chamber. Rinse all components to
remove any debris that has been left.
5. Re-assemble the pump
6. Remove and rinse or replace filter cartridges and
sponges as described in Fortnightly: 25% water
change.
7. Rinse the body of the filter in a bucket of water from
the aquarium. Use a sponge to clean off any algae on
the filter. Use a pipe brush to clean the duckbill outlet.
Ensure that the ceramic noodle chamber is flushed out
well to remove any solid debris (AquaBac 60 only)
NEVER RINSE CERAMIC NOODLES, BIO
CARTRIDGE OR SPONGES WITH TAPWATER
8. Reassemble filter and replace pump.
9. Place filter back into the aquarium.
10. Ensure your hands are dry, plug the pump in at the
power outlet and switch it on.
11. Check that the filter is working correctly.
