The injection relay (No. 33 in the electrical circuit diagram, placed under saddle, right side;

CHECK, however, the identification of the relay with the colour of the cables) is energised

for 5 seconds and the injector cable connected to control unit is closed to ground for 4 ms

per second. Disconnect the 4-way connector of the fuel pump to be able to hear the relay

and injector activation. Electrical continuity is required in the wiring for the relay to activate

correctly: no errors are generated if the relay fails to activate

Upper injector cylinder 4

•

Error cause

•

Short-circuit to positive: excessive voltage has been detected on VEHICLE PIN 53. If short

circuit to negative: no voltage has been detected. If open circuit: an interruption has been

detected

Troubleshooting

•

Short-circuit to positive: disconnect the injector connector, set key to ON, activate the com-

ponent with the diagnostic tool and check the voltage on the orange/red cable on the injector

connector (if present): if there is voltage, restore the filter box cable harness. If there is no

voltage, replace the sensor

•

If short circuit to negative: disconnect the injector connector, set the key to ON and check if

there is a ground connection on the orange/red cable: if the connection is present, restore

the cable harness. If there is no connection, replace the injector

•

If open circuit: check the component correct electrical characteristic: if it is not the correct

one, replace the component; if it is correct, check the connector on the component and the

Marelli control unit connector: if not OK, restore. If OK, check cable continuity between VE-

HICLE PIN 53 and component PIN - and restore the cable harness
