Using the sample setup tool
The option of using a sample setup tool is provided at the beginning of each extraction pro-
tocol started via the HID-Pro control unit (see also chapter "Starting and executing an extrac-
tion protocol" p. 30). This tool allows you to create, load and save a new "sample-setup" and
to have it recorded in a logfile. A setup contains the exact details of how the tray is populated
and the assignment of the sample names to the 16 maximum possible sample positions.
Creating and saving a sample setup via the HID-Pro 320
The tool always starts with an empty sample setup. Sample positions 1 to 8 are configured
on the left-hand side of the screen; these positions are also located in the sample tray on the
left-hand side (when viewed from the front towards the side of the tray with the tip block).
Positions 9 to 16 are configured on the right, corresponding to the right-hand side of the tray.
Figure 10 Assignment of the sample positions
Both sides can be configured independently of each other according to how the tray is popu-
lated. The following example illustrates a tray populated on the left-hand side with 4 reagent
strips and on the right-hand side with a reagent plate:
