the file by pressing the return key. You may get unpredictable results if you use this menu

option when there are not previously saved files on your disk.

There are additional file functions available at the bottom of the screen.

When you press F1, additional information about the currently selected file displays on

the screen. The F2 key will delete the currently highlighted file. A prompt window

cautions the user before the file is deleted.

NEW

is used to create new cable wiring documentation files. Selecting NEW opens the

NEW menu option screen. Use this menu with the F2-Library INSERT menu option to

create custom cable wiring files. The NEW F1-File menu option is described in the

XXXXXXXXX Application and Use section.

SAVE

saves the file information created with the New menu option screen. AXWire uses

the DEALER field to create a DOS file name. You must make an entry in the DEALER

field. See the

File Description

section on page 6. The first eight characters of the file

name are used to generate a unique file name. A three-character .AXW file extension is

appended to the file name. If you use the same file name again, AXWire will

automatically change the last character to keep it unique. The shortcut is ctrl-s.

PRINT

-This menu option creates a Postscript file for the currently selected cage

configuration and saves it on your disk as HOOKUP.PLT. Note that you must have a

correctly configured Postscript printing capability to print the .PLT file.

NEW MINI CAGE

-This menu option creates a new cable wiring file for an AXF-MINI

Mini-CardFrame. You can add up to three Axcess cards per CardFrame. The AXF-MINI

is always equipped with a Master Card.

EXIT

allows you to return to MS-DOS. The shortcut is ctrl-x.

F2-Edit

Select the F2 key to display a menu. The ADD CAGE menu option will be highlighted when this

menu is first selected. Use the up and down arrows to move the highlight bar over the desired

option.

ADD CAGE

adds a new CardFrame to the currently selected cage number sequence.

DELETE CAGE

deletes the currently selected CardFrame from the system.

CAGE DEVICE

lets you change the CardFrame device number.

NEXT CARD

lets you select the next card in the sequence once a cage file containing

more than one card is built. The shortcut is ctrl-n.

PREVIOUS CARD

lets you select the previous card. The shortcut is ctrl-p.

NEXT CONFIGURE

allows you to select the configuration needed for Axcess card

types with alternate configurations, such as the AXC- 232 RS-232/422 card. The shortcut

is ctrl-t.

TOGGLE DIVIDE

inserts or deletes a divide at the current position of the highlight bar.

Divides, the short horizontal lines appearing in the vertical lines, are used to separate

wiring data from other text (see FIG. 2). The shortcut selection for this option is ctrl-d.
